Visited by a large number of wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers from all over the world, the forests experience a large footfall of tourists.The most unique thing about these forests is that they are home to some of the most exotic and rare plant and animal species that have migrated from neighbouring countries like Myanmar, Thailand, and Bangladesh etc.

The northeastern region is known for some of the best and the most dense tropical rainforests in India which are still unaffected by human population and unaffected by commercialization. Although these woods are majorly concentrated in the Northern Assam region, however, some patches can still be traced in the adjoining areas of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura etc. These forests are on low lying hills with an average height of about 900 metres. Among the most popular flora and fauna species found in the region are Rhesus Macaque, Pig-tailed Macaque, Assamese Macaque, Slow Loris capped Langurs, Wild Elephants, Stam-tailed Macaque and Hoolock Gibbons etc.

Covering a total area of 30000 square km, Tropical Rainforests in the Western Ghats are known to be one of the most dense which start at Southwest Maharashtra and go upto Karnataka in South India. Boasting of a rich and varied wildlife, the forest is home to around 1100 species of animals among which elephants have the largest population. However, the most alarming factor about these forests is the depleting forest cover due to high urbanisation and commercialization in the region.
