Do You Need All Of The Extras?

Note:  This really isn't about digital cameras....KEEP READING.

When it was time for me to buy a new digital camera I was at a complete loss as to which one I should get.

The salesman at Circuit City asked me what I was looking for in a camera.  When you think about it that was the perfect question to ask.

Me:  I just want an easy to use digital camera that takes really good pictures.

Salesman:  A lot of cameras are easy to use and take really good pictures.

Me:  I want the easiest to use digital camera that takes really good pictures

Salesman:  This Sony camera is easy to use, it has 4x optical zoom, and dual image stabilizers.

Me:  I don't know anything about dual image stabilizers.

Salesman:  You don't have to know anything about them...they work automatically and insure that you get a really good picture.

Me:  I'll take it.

Salesman:  Do you want to hear about all of the other features the camera has?

Me:  Do I need to know about them to take really good pictures?

Salesman:  No

Me:  Then I don't want to hear about them.

When I got home I charged the batteries up, read 5 minutes worth of the directions, and started taking pictures.

You know what?  The camera is really easy to use and takes great pictures.

So what is the point of all of this?
