Do You Know The Secret?
Amanda called me to come pick her up at the airport at 8:30 this morning.
"How was your trip?" I asked her, all the while really wondering why and how this one day trip to San Diego turned into a 3 day trip.
She answered without a hint of regret that her original plans had changed and that she had not bothered to call and tell me. "The trip was fine, San Diego was great as always, but the whole thing took longer than I expected. There were some unforeseen glitches I had to overcome. Sorry I didn't call you. I was so busy that I thought it would just be better to get my business done and over with and then talk with you when I got back."
Just like that she completely disarmed me. How dare I feel betrayed when she was busy dealing with the unexpected glitch? Oh well she's back now and that is all that matters. I went downstairs got in my car and headed towards the airport.
When Amanda saw me get out of my new car she shrieked, "Paul, I knew it. I knew you would not wait for me to buy a car. Wow, it's beautiful! Let's go for a ride." With that she put her bag in the backseat and we took off.
"Where would you like to go?" I asked her.
"Lets go eat breakfast somewhere, I'm hungry. They don't serve any food on short flights and I didn't have time to eat before I left San Diego." She seemed to be in a very good mood and now that she was back I was feeling pretty good myself.
We went to Caesar's Palace to eat breakfast at Spargo in the Forum Shops.
Before the food arrived Amanda leaned over to me and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. "Paul I missed you."
"I missed you too Amanda."
"Listen Paul I need to talk with you about something serious. Something that happened in San Diego." This was the first time I have heard Amanda sound this concerned about anything. It made me a bit concerned about what she was going to tell me.
