Amanda 101 Part Two

I can't tell you what the movie was about.  I can't even tell you what the popcorn tasted like.  What I can tell you is that Amanda and I will be a couple from here on out.

I knew she was an angel, last night confirmed it.  Last night also left no doubt in my mind that good things happen three at a time.

  1. I won $350 million in the lottery.
  2. I moved to Las Vegas the "Greatest Place" on earth.
  3. I met the girl of my dreams and just had the best night of my life.

Need I say anymore?

If life can get any better then this then I would have to say that we are in heaven and just don't realize it.  This whole earth thing must be one big made up story.  I'm telling you the truth:  I can just scream and jump for joy!

Amanda woke up and sat down next to me on the sofa. She sighed and said, "Guess we should get ready and find something to do today."

She was right of course.  It was a beautiful day (in more ways then one) and it would be a shame to waste it inside.  From the balcony in the den I could see the mountains west of Las Vegas.  I haven't explored them yet and thought this would be a good day to set off on that adventure.

The first issue we had to come to grips with is neither one of us owned a car.  It was going to be quite a trick getting to the mountains without any transportation.  Buying a car was on my to-do list.  I was setting a really poor example for all the other millionaires out in the world.  I had more money then I could possibly spend in two lifetimes and couldn't figure out what kind of car to buy.  Well I'll solve that problem in due time.  For now the mountains were calling us and we were about to call the rental car company.

The rental car showed up and we were on our way to Mount Charleston.  Let me tell you a little about Mt Charleston:

  • It's just 35 minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip
  • The elevation at the top of the mountain is over 7,700 feet
  • Mount Charleston is located in Kyle Canyon
  • The temperature is normally 30 degrees cooler than in Las Vegas

Hummingbirds, woodpeckers and chipmunks are everywhere. Even the occasional deer sighting is commonplace at Mount Charleston.

We spent the day hiking along the river and taking the occasional break to enjoy each others company and to continue bonding like all new couples do.  I think we might have embarrassed the deer a few times.

We ate lunch at the lodge and then headed back into town.  We had a great time and it was a great day.

"You want to go shopping for a car with me tomorrow?"  I was wondering what kind of car Amanda would find exciting.

"Paul I can't.  I need to take a quick flight to San Diego in the morning to clear up some business.  I'll call you when I get back into town.  Sorry, I should have said something earlier."

"Not a problem."  Wow, our first day away from each other since we became an item.  "I'll just have to buy a car by myself."  I wondered if I was laying it on too thick.

"Well don't make a final decision until I get back.  After all I'll probably be spending a fair amount of time in the passenger seat...I need to make sure the car fits my image.  A girl always wants to look good."

She didn't need a car to help her look good.  But I understood what she way saying.

"What kind of work do you do Amanda?"  Funny but I really didn't know that much about my angel.

"I just manage my investments.  I inherited quite a bit and it takes a lot of work to make sure that all of the money is where it should be when it should be there."

Well well well:  Who would have guessed.  We are both unemployed and enjoying it.  I guess I can say I manage my investments also.  I invested one dollar and made $350 million.  Great work if you can get it.
